Q: Who is eligible to participate in Center for Wellness programs and services?
A: The programs and services at the Center for Wellness are available to current affiliates of Harvard University. This includes current faculty and staff, Harvard graduate and undergraduate students, all current HUGHP members, and retirees receiving health care at University Health Services.  Partners/spouses/dependents of current employees and students are also eligible.  Other types of Harvard University affiliates may be eligible for some services.  Special programs may be limited to certain groups because of space constraints, building access, or funding restrictions.

Q: Do I have to fill out the registration forms before I can schedule an appointment?
A: Yes, there are a few forms that need to be completed before scheduling your first massage, Shiatsu, acupuncture, or Reiki appointment. This provides us with the information we need to best serve you and to verify your eligibility. It also ensures that we have communicated all of the information you need to know about our program, including the strict cancellation policy. Also, it allows you to choose a payment option for your appointment. It is our policy to arrange payment in advance of your appointment.

Q: How far in advance can I schedule an individual appointment?
A: Appointments may be scheduled up to 90 days in advance, on a rolling basis.  Please note, appointments cannot be scheduled more than 90 days in the future.

Q: Can I request a male or female massage therapist?
A: Absolutely. Our goal is to provide you with the most comfortable and beneficial experience possible.

Q: Should I offer a gratuity to my massage therapist?
A: No, the massage therapists at the Center for Wellness cannot accept a gratuity.

Q:  What is the cancellation policy for appointments?
A:  24 hours.  While we understand that scheduling changes happen, 24-hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Because we would like to accommodate other clients if you cannot keep your appointment, please call (617) 495-9629 at least 24 hours before the appointment time if you need to cancel or reschedule. During non-business hours, please leave a voice mail which will record the time of your message and can confirm your compliance with this policy.

Without 24-hour notice of cancellation, you are responsible for full payment. A payroll deduction or charge to your student term bill will be made if no other payment is provided.

The cancellation policy for table massage, shiatsu, and acupuncture appointments is listed in the corresponding registration forms that all clients must complete, sign and submit before scheduling their first appointment. The cancellation policy is also included within appointment reminders.

Q:  What are the 2017 HUGHP changes regarding Acupuncture?
A:  Current HUGHP members must pay the standard rate ($85 in 2017) to Center for Wellness via credit card, check, or payroll deduction.  See HUGHP site for full description of process for payments, receipts, and reimbursements.  http://hughp.harvard.edu/new_benefits_2017.
These changes are for HUGHP members only.

Q: When is the Center for Wellness open?
A: The Center for Wellness is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 9pm, and Saturdays 9am to 4pm. However, some of our classes and  programs take place outside of these hours.

Q: How can I be added to your mailing list?
A: You can contact the Center for Wellness to be added to our regular mailing list. Please provide your full name, e-mail, telephone number, and campus mailing address.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept for your fee-based programs?
A: The Center for Wellness accepts visa/mastercard, personal checks, term-bill (students), or payroll deduction (employees). We do not accept cash.

Q: Do you offer discounts?
A: Yes.  Specific prices are listed for each appointment or class.
Students:  Full time students at Harvard College or a Harvard graduate school who have the Harvard University Student Health Plan (HUSHP) receive a discount of $20 discount on both acupuncture and one hour massage appointments, with some exceptions.
Staff:  Staff who have chosen Harvard University Group Health Plan (HUGHP) are eligible for discounts, not all staff.  Family who have current HUGHP coverage are also eligible for the discounted rate.  HUGHP members receive a discount for one hour massage and acupuncture, and up to 50% discount on most weekly classes.

Q: How can I provide feedback about an appointment or class?
A: Feedback about appointments or classes may be sent to the Center for Wellness via email, fax, or mail.  There is also a paper appointment evaluation form available at the reception desk which may help structure your feedback and make it more helpful to us.  Feedback about any part of your experience with the Center for Wellness is welcome.

Q: Will my class or appointment be cancelled due to bad weather?
A: The Center for Wellness does not cancel classes unless the instructor or therapist cancels. In the event of a cancellation, every attempt will be made to immediately notify all participants by telephone and/or e-mail.
